Kaio César goes on trial for confusion and could miss Corinthians

According to the Prosecutor's Office, Kaio César advanced towards Alejo Véliz after the whistle that ended the first stage. The Bahia striker fell to the pitch after contact and indicated that he had been hit by the Corinthians player.

The complaint is based on article 250 of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD), which provides punishment for acts considered unfair or hostile carried out during a match. The attacker was included in paragraph 1, item II, which deals with pushing against a teammate or opponent outside of a dispute for the ball. The process will be analyzed by the 4th Disciplinary Commission of the STJD, under the report of auditor Gustavo Vaughn.

The Prosecutor's Office chose not to charge Kaio César with physical aggression. The understanding was that the images show hostile conduct, but do not allow for individual proof of a coup that would justify this framing.

Referee Ramon Abatti Abel did not issue cards to those involved when the teams returned for the second half. The disturbance was also not recorded in the match summary.

In case of conviction, Kaio César could be suspended from one to three matches. Corinthians will still have the possibility of appealing to the Full STJD.

Released against Athletico

A possible punishment will not prevent Kaio César from facing Athletico-PR this Thursday, at 7:30 pm (Brasília time), for the Brazilian Championship. Article 133 of the CBJD determines that the effects of a sentencing decision only come into effect on the day following the announcement of the result. Thus, any penalty applied on Thursday morning will only take effect from Friday.

If convicted, the attacker will begin serving his suspension in Corinthians' next match in the Brasileirão, scheduled for August 9th, against Red Bull Bragantino, away from home.

Clubs and referee will also be judged

Corinthians and Bahia were also denounced in the same process. The two clubs were included in articles 206 and 257, paragraph 3, of the CBJD.

Article 257 deals with participation in conflict or disturbance during the match and provides for a fine of up to R$20,000 for clubs.

Article 206 is also included in the complaint filed against Corinthians and Bahia. This framework had not been mentioned in the first publication about the case.

In turn, Ramon Abatti Abel was denounced based on article 266 of the CBJD, which deals with the omission or inadequate recording of disciplinary incidents in the match summary.
