BRASÍLIA, DF (FOLHAPRESS) - The Brazilian formal job market closed the month of June with a balance of 145 thousand new vacancies, according to data from Caged (General Register of Employed and Unemployed) released this Wednesday (29) by the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

The balance is the result of 2.220 million formal hires and 2 million layoffs in the same type of employment. The median projected by economists interviewed by Bloomberg was 115 thousand jobs maintained in June.
With the June result, the first half of 2026 accumulates 921.6 thousand jobs created, below the 1.2 million registered in the same period last year.
The opening of vacancies in June adds to a sequence that now reaches three months of positive balances, but at very low levels. Both April, May and June had results comparable to the opening of vacancies recorded in 2020, in the first months of the pandemic.
In May, 72.9 thousand jobs were maintained, and in April, 85 thousand. The 145,100 vacancies opened in June are only better than the result in 2020, when 53,000 jobs were lost.
