Cattle rancher is killed at a gas station in Ariquemes The trial of Matheus Vítor Uliana Nascimento, accused of killing cattle rancher Nelson Alexandre Melo, known as "Xandy do Motocross", began this Wednesday (22), in Ariquemes (RO). The crime took place in February 2025. The cattle rancher was shot dead at a gas station in the city. After the crime, Matheus even presented himself to the police and was released, but was re-arrested preventively months later during investigations. The Public Ministry of Rondônia (MP-RO) charged Matheus Vítor Uliana Nascimento with qualified homicide. In the complaint, the 5th Public Prosecutor's Office of Ariquemes pointed out three qualifiers for the crime: bad motive, common danger and resource that made the victim's defense difficult. According to investigations, the accused, a resident of Porto Velho, traveled approximately 200 kilometers to Ariquemes armed with a firearm. According to the investigation, he and the victim arranged to meet at a gas station in the city, where the crime took place. Rede Amazônica contacted the defendant's defense, but had no response until the last update of this report. MORE Security camera footage recorded the moment he was shot. According to the police report, Nelson entered the gas station with the car and surrounded the suspect's vehicle. Then he walked towards the car. At that moment, the driver rolled down the window and fired shots. The livestock farmer was rescued and taken to the Ariquemes Regional Hospital, but he did not survive his injuries. After the crime, Matheus spontaneously presented himself to the Integrated Public Security Unit (Unisp), confessed to the murder and handed over the weapon used in the shooting. At the time, he was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, but was released after posting bail. The police understood that, at that time, there were not enough elements to support the arrest in the act of murder, given the evidence of self-defense. According to investigations, the crime was motivated by a "love issue", as reported by the delegate responsible for the case at the time. Arrest of the accused Months later, Matheus Vítor Uliana Nascimento was once again arrested preventively. The arrest was ordered after a new investigation showed that he started looking for and threatening people linked to the process. On the day of the operation, the Ariquemes Regional Police Station served an arrest warrant and another search and seizure warrant in the municipality. The Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco), from the MP-RO, carried out two search and seizure warrants in Porto Velho.
