Caiado criticizes Flávio Bolsonaro's speech to ambassadors against the polls

The former governor of Goiás stated that Flávio Bolsonaro could have used the opportunity to speak to foreign ambassadors to attract investment to Brazil.

"Forty-two ambassadors in a room: you could sell soybeans. You could open a market for industry. You could attract investment," he stated.

On Tuesday (21), the eldest son of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) repeated his father in speaking unfoundedly against the polls and casting doubt on the fairness of the Brazilian elections with authorities from other countries.

In a meeting with a foreign audience, he stated that Brazilian electronic voting machines have the same origin as voting machines from the Venezuelan company Smartmatic, which is false, citing that the brand was involved in a fraud plan by the Venezuelan government in the 2012 elections.

In 2023, Jair Bolsonaro became ineligible for promoting attacks and lies against the electoral system in a meeting the previous year with ambassadors. The former president is under house arrest for having attempted a coup d'état.

Caiado's confrontation against his main right-wing opponent in the 2026 presidential election has taken place in a more frontal manner as the election approaches and Flávio's weakening due to scandals such as his involvement with Daniel Vorcaro, former banker who owns Banco Master.

At the beginning of the pre-campaign, Caiado avoided making harsher criticisms of Flávio, even when questioned by journalists. He centered the opposition, highlighting the senator's lack of experience in the Executive, but avoided attacking him on more controversial topics, such as the accusation of splitting.

The politician's change in strategy has also accompanied the release of research that indicates that less expressive right-wing candidates, such as Caiado himself and the former governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema, have a chance against President Lula (PT) in the second round, due to the high rejection of the PT member and the polarized environment.

In the direct confrontation against the Bolsonaro family, Caiado also criticized the granting of a green card by the United States to former federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro.

The former governor of Goiás stated that those who need the benefit "are the Brazilian producers to enter the American market", also reinforcing the position in favor of agriculture.

Eduardo Bolsonaro received his green card from Donald Trump's government on Monday (20), after a period in the country in which he orchestrated actions against the Brazilian government.

The Goian also linked Jair Bolsonaro's endorsement of Flávio's candidacy, through a letter read by the senator on July 11, to the politician's "extreme fragility."

At the time, Caiado stated that "voters do not want a president who needs constant approval from another leadership." "We are in an election campaign. We, the candidates, have to respond."
