Flu vaccination will be held at Praça Santa Cruz this Saturday (25)

This Saturday (25th), the Municipal Health Department will carry out a vaccination campaign against influenza in Praça Santa Cruz. The service takes place from 9 am to 1 pm and will be aimed at the general population from six months of age. The initiative aims to expand vaccination coverage and facilitate the population's access to immunization during the period of greatest circulation of respiratory viruses. In addition to vaccination, the Testing and Counseling Center (CTA) will also be present at the action, offering free rapid tests for HIV, hepatitis B and C and syphilis. The flu vaccine has been part of the National Vaccination Calendar as a routine immunizer since 2025 and is considered the most effective form of prevention against the disease. In 2026, the formulation was updated to offer protection against three strains of the influenza virus: H1N1, H3N2 and type B. As the virus mutates frequently, vaccination must be carried out every year. In addition to reducing the risk of illness, immunization helps to reduce complications, hospitalizations and deaths caused by influenza, as well as to reduce the burden on health services during the respiratory disease season. The vaccine is not recommended for children under six months of age, people who have had a fever in the last 24 hours and people with a history of severe egg allergy.
