Fair of Things brings circular economy to CTC Sicoob Credisul and invites us to rethink consumption Disclosure The traditional Fair of Things takes on a new format this year. From the 14th to the 18th of July, the event incorporates the concept of circular economy and transforms the CTC Sicoob Credisul, in Vilhena (RO), into a space to encourage the reuse of materials, conscious consumption and the appreciation of local initiatives. Over the course of five days of programming, the public will be able to enjoy food, a thrift store, a used book store and a craft fair, as well as participate in workshops and activities for children. The Fair of Things will be held from Tuesday to Friday, from 4pm to 8pm, and on Saturday, from 2:30pm to 8pm. The circular economy proposes a different model from the traditional “extract, produce and discard”. The goal is to keep products and materials in use for as long as possible through reuse, repair, recycling and sharing. In practice, this means reducing waste, reducing waste generation and making better use of existing resources. The need for this change is evidenced by global data. According to the Circle Economy Foundation's Circularity Gap Report 2025, only 6.9% of materials used by the global economy come from secondary sources, such as recycled or reused materials. The study also points out that only 11.2% of materials that leave the economy return to the cycle through recycling. For Adevania Silveira, Marketing, Citizenship and Sustainability manager at Sicoob Credisul, the proposal is to show that the circular economy can be part of people's routine. "The Fair of Things was designed to bring this concept closer to the community in a simple way. When we reuse, repair, exchange or repurpose an object, we are extending its useful life and reducing waste. These are attitudes that make a difference and that anyone can put into practice." The initiative is part of Sicoob Credisul's sustainability agenda, which develops actions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is part of the UN Global Compact and promotes projects aimed at environmental preservation, such as Plantar o Futuro, Plantando Chuva and Somos Todos Guaporé.
