Lemon Energy Credit: Disclosure Anyone who manages a business deals with dozens of different systems throughout the day: inventory, sales, payroll, but electricity remains outside this management, treated as a fixed and non-negotiable cost. This logic begins to change. A new generation of digital models allows businesses and businesses to access solar energy without leaving their location, without work and without bureaucracy, expanding the reach of a technology that until recently depended on high investment and a time-consuming technical process. Brazilian retail is experiencing an accelerated technological transformation. Automated point of sale system, real-time inventory control, digital payroll, app-based service: more and more businesses are incorporating these tools into their day-to-day operations. The electricity bill, however, remains one of the few fronts that still works as it has for decades: the bill arrives, the entrepreneur pays, and that's it. Changing suppliers within the traditional solar energy model does not change this scenario much, the process continues to require a technical visit, engineering design, work on the roof and an initial investment that most small and medium-sized businesses do not have available. It is this gap that Lemon Energia, a Brazilian climatetech certified as a B Company, proposes to resolve with a 100% digital shared distributed generation model, regulated by ANEEL. Registration is done online, without a technical visit, without an engineering project and without any work on the property. The company connects the customer to a partner solar plant already in operation, and the clean energy credits generated by this plant are deducted directly from the invoice issued by the local distributor. "We saw that energy management was left behind while the rest of the business operation is becoming increasingly digitalized," says Rafael Vignoli, CEO of Lemon Energia. "We created a model in which there is no technical visit, there is no paperwork, there is no deadline for work. The entrepreneur registers online and starts monitoring the savings directly through the application, in the same way that he already monitors sales or stock. And if any doubt or unforeseen event arises with the electricity bill, he is not alone: ??there is a specialized Lemon service team to resolve it." How it works in practice The process begins with registration on the Lemon website or app, where the entrepreneur enters the energy bill data. From then on, there is no physical intervention on the property, nothing changes in the wiring or the structure of the business. The energy continues to arrive through the same electrical network as always. The difference appears in the following invoices: the consumption of clean energy generated by Lemon's partner plant is deducted from the final value of the electricity bill, and the business pays Lemon for the energy consumed in the month, but with savings, and to the distributor only the residual conventional consumption and sector fees. All monitoring, from membership to savings history, is available on the climatech app — and, if human support is needed, the customer can count on specialized service from Lemon, without the need for bureaucracy. How much can you save, in practice? An example helps to measure the impact. Looking at local businesses such as small and medium-sized bars, restaurants and beverage distributors, the electricity bill for these businesses usually ranges between R$2,000 and R$2,500 per month. Without the Lemon model, this value tends to be R$300 to R$400 higher every month. Over the course of a year, the difference can represent between R$4,000 and R$5,000 less coming out of the business's cash flow. A model that is already on a national scale This 100% digital format is part of the reason why Lemon already has more than 40 thousand businesses served across the country, with more than 120 contracted partner plants. Without depending on an in-person technical team for each subscription, the model can grow at the same pace as any digital product, which would be much slower in a physical installation logic, work by work, client by client. What changes for the entrepreneur For networks with several units spread across the country, or for small businesses that do not have the structure to deal with bureaucracy or works, having a clean energy adoption process as simple as opening an app changes the logic of those who can, in fact, reduce the cost of their electricity bill. And knowing that there is a customer service team behind the application, ready to help when something goes wrong, gives the entrepreneur the security of not dealing with yet another anonymous supplier. Business management is increasingly also technology management, and electricity has only been left out of this conversation until now. Want to know how much your store or chain can save?
