The crime took place around 5pm, on Rua Doutor Luiz Carlos. Pedro Lucas, who was born in Assú, died at the scene. After the crime, the shooter fled on a motorcycle that was driven by an accomplice. During the investigation, a motorcycle was seized and two men were taken to the Assú Civil Police Station to provide clarification. According to delegate Valério Kuerten, it will still be investigated whether the vehicle and those driven are related to the homicide. The Civil Police are also investigating a possible link between the murder and another attack recorded at the same barbershop on June 20, when a man was shot inside the establishment.
