The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, stated, this Wednesday, 29, that he is obsessed with making the government spend less and better so that interest rates can fall. He gave an interview to Rádio Capital FM, from Mato Grosso do Sul.

"This is an obsession. We need to improve the fiscal condition, make the government spend less and better, so that we can balance the interest rate in the future", he said.

He also stated that inflation will be the lowest in a presidential term, but admitted that this does not mean that life is easy for people. The minister also cited the increase in the number of jobs and the departure of many people from programs such as Bolsa Família, which, according to him, shrank during the Lula government after having grown under Jair Bolsonaro's administration.

Regarding the large number of requests for judicial recovery in the country, he declared that part of this represents an industry that is harmful to Brazil. "Because we have an industry for judicial recovery of companies. It's an abuse of form. Companies that are often created already designed to undergo judicial recovery", he criticized.

Accounts up to date

In the interview, Durigan also stated that he will close the year with his accounts up to date and, with luck, will have a surplus. "In 2024, we will bring the deficit to zero. This year, we did not bring the deficit to zero. With any luck, we will make a surplus. But the account is in order. The Treasury account will close in order at the end of the year," he stated.

He recalled that the government has around R$17 billion blocked from the Budget to say that the Executive needs to set an example. According to him, the 2027 Budget will come with all the necessary cuts highlighted, even in an election year.

"Next year's Budget comes exactly, with everything that has to be cut, with everything that has to be charged. The next government will be in a better position to continue closing accounts and reducing interest rates", he added.

Durigan also said that he will have a full schedule in Mato Grosso do Sul this Thursday and Friday, the 30th and 31st.
