The remains of five newborns were found, on Monday night (27), inside cardboard boxes in a house in Orange, in the Vaucluse region.

A source revealed to the French newspaper Le Parisien that the remains were in boxes stored in a couple's home.

The 32-year-old woman reportedly gave birth to her third child on Sunday night at home and was later taken to the hospital.

The husband, who was not at home when his partner went to the hospital, decided to go through some boxes that she kept and which were reasons for discussion between the two about the contents. The man would then have come across a decomposing body.

Later, the husband took the body to the hospital, which ended up reporting the case to the authorities. Thus, the police were notified and carried out searches of the couple's residence.

During the searches, authorities found four more newborn bodies inside plastic bags stored in boxes.

The couple, it is worth noting, already have two children aged eight and nine. The woman is hospitalized and has not yet been questioned by authorities. In turn, the partner has already been interviewed and claimed to be completely unaware of any other pregnancy of his wife.

French media outlets reported that the Carpentras Public Prosecutor's Office had opened a homicide investigation. An autopsy will also be carried out on the baby's body and the bones will be analyzed in the laboratory.

A coroner considered "that the bones and decomposed body discovered belonged to five babies", indicated the Public Ministry, confirming information from sources close to the investigation.

Le Parisien also reveals that the Public Prosecutor's Office has already contacted the child protection services "so that a quick assessment of the situation can be carried out", taking into account that the couple has two minor children and a newborn.
