The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) has just released the ranking of the most common names and surnames in Brazil according to data from the 2022 Demographic Census. The survey portrays the Brazilian population on August 1, 2022, the base date of the research. In total, more than 140 thousand names and 200 thousand surnames were identified. There is no differentiation between graphic signs, such as Jose or José. In cases such as Ana and Anna, Luís and Luiz, the names were counted separately.
