Father who kicked 3-year-old daughter in the face is charged with torture in PR

The parent, whose identity was not revealed, will be charged with torture and bodily harm in the context of domestic violence and torture. The indictment took place on Monday morning (13).

The crimes would have been committed against the man's two children, aged 3 and 5. The indictment comes days after the father was caught on security cameras kicking the girl in the head in Francisco Beltrão, in the interior of Paraná.

The accused reported that he attacked his daughter after she cried and screamed. According to the Civil Police, he confirmed the attack on July 5th, but said he did not fully remember the events.

Police believe the father had already assaulted the children twice. Deputy Ricardo Moraes reported that photographs of marks of aggression were collected and sent for the production of an expert report.

"The third fact that we investigated is related to excessive punishment. Information collected indicates that the suspect ordered the two children to kneel on bottle caps, corn and beans as a way of punishing them", said Ricardo Moraes.

The parent remains in pre-trial detention. According to the police, family members and the children's mother had protective measures granted by the courts. As the individual was not identified, UOL was unable to seek a statement in its defense.
