According to the investigation, the real target was a man linked to drug trafficking, who left the establishment in a car about 10 seconds before Hugo arrived, who was in a pickup truck. Images from security cameras and the Muralha Digital system show the moment the shooter invaded the place and fired shots.
Hugo was cutting his beard when he was hit in the head and died at the scene. Barber João Victor Pereira was also shot in the chest. He was hospitalized for more than 20 days and is recovering at home. According to police chief Luis Gustavo Timossi, the businessman was mistaken for the target of the execution, and the barber may have been hit in an attempt to eliminate witnesses.
This Tuesday (July 28, 2026), the Civil Police served five temporary arrest warrants and five search and seizure warrants. Among those arrested are:
a 34-year-old man, identified as the organizer of the action (with a record of drug trafficking, illegal possession of a weapon and bodily harm);
one aged 24, responsible for providing logistical support and the weapon used in the crime (history of homicide, trafficking and reception);
a 27-year-old man, who monitored the target and drove the getaway vehicle (trafficking record);
and two other suspects, aged 25 and 19, whose participation is still being clarified with additional investigations.
None of those arrested were named. All already had a criminal record. The items seized from the residences will be analyzed to conclude the investigation.
Hugo Gabriel Moll was a businessman in the construction industry. He left behind his wife, whom he had married less than two months ago, and a 12-year-old son. According to police, he had no criminal history.
