Caixa Econômica Federal will distribute approximately R$13.04 billion of the profit obtained by the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) in 2025. The payment will benefit approximately 138.2 million workers and will be made automatically in accounts linked to the fund.

The amount approved by the FGTS Board of Trustees corresponds to 89% of the positive result recorded last year. In 2025, the fund ended the year with a profit of approximately R$14.7 billion. The official forecast is that credits will be made during the first half of August 2026. Ministry of Labor and Employment

Who is entitled to FGTS profit?

Every worker who had a balance in one or more linked FGTS accounts on December 31, 2025 will receive a portion of the profit.

Payment includes both active accounts, related to current employment, and inactive accounts, opened in previous jobs. The only requirement is that there was some amount deposited on the date used as a reference.

There is no need to fill out a form, go to an agency or make any request. Caixa will calculate the individual amount and issue the credit automatically.

The same worker can have several FGTS accounts, as a linked account is normally created for each employment contract. In this case, the calculation will be made based on the existing balance in each account.

How much will each worker receive?

The amount will be proportional to the money that was deposited in the FGTS on December 31, 2025. The distribution will add approximately 1.87% to the balance used in the calculation.

To make a more precise estimate, the worker can multiply the total balance existing on that date by the index of 0.01868341.

The formula is as follows:

FGTS balance on December 31, 2025 × 0.01868341 = approximate value of profit

Check out some examples:

Balance in December 2025 Approximate credit
R$ 100 R$ 1.87
R$500 R$9.34
R$ 1,000 R$ 18.68
R$ 2,000 R$ 37.37
R$5,000 R$93.42
R$ 10,000 R$ 186.83
R$ 20,000 R$ 373.67
R$50,000 R$934.17
R$ 100,000 R$ 1,868.34
R$ 500,000 R$ 9,341.71

For example, a person who had R$7,500 in FGTS at the end of 2025 will receive approximately R$140.13. If the worker had several accounts, they can add up all the balances to estimate the total credit.

The amount actually deposited may differ slightly due to the rounding criteria used by Caixa.

When will payment be made?

The legislation allows the distribution to be made until August 31 of the year following the period in which the profit was determined. However, for the result referring to 2025, the government's forecast is that the credits will be made in the first half of August 2026.

The money will not be transferred to the worker's current account or savings account. It will be incorporated directly into the balance of the respective FGTS account.

When the payment appears on the statement, the transaction must be identified by a description similar to:

“AC CRED DIST RESULT BASE YEAR 12/2025”

Is it possible to withdraw the profit immediately?

Profit credit does not create a new withdrawal method. Once deposited, the money becomes part of the FGTS balance and is subject to the same rules applied to the fund's other resources.

Therefore, the worker will only be able to move it in situations authorized by law, such as:

unfair dismissal;
retirement;
purchasing your own home;
amortization or discharge of housing financing;
payment of part of the property installments;
serious illnesses provided for in the FGTS rules;
death of the holder;
situations of public calamity;
adherence and payment according to the birthday withdrawal rules;
other legally authorized hypotheses.

Therefore, receiving a portion of the profit does not mean that the amount will be immediately available for cash withdrawal.

How to check credit using the FGTS application?

The worker will be able to track payment through the official FGTS application. To do this, you must:

Open or update the FGTS application on your cell phone. Select the option to enter. Inform the CPF. Enter the registered password or request recovery. On the home page, tap the option that displays the total balance. Access “Check all your FGTS accounts”. Select each employment relationship. Open the statement to check the movements. Search for credit related to the distribution of the 2025 result.

It is also possible to generate the extract in PDF. Anyone who is unable to use the application can look for a Caixa branch to request information about their accounts.

FGTS profitability will be above inflation

FGTS accounts receive a basic remuneration of 3% per year, plus the Reference Rate. The distribution of part of the profit increases this income.

With the approved transfer, the total profitability for 2025 will reach 6.90%. The result exceeds the official inflation of that year by 2.53 percentage points, measured by the IPCA, which was 4.26%.

This difference is important because the Federal Supreme Court decided that the remuneration of FGTS accounts cannot be below official inflation. If the fund's traditional income does not reach the IPCA, a form of compensation must be adopted.

The decision to distribute 89% of the profit also preserves a portion of the result within the fund itself. This reserve can help maintain the financial sustainability of the FGTS and act as protection in years in which the basic remuneration is not enough to overcome inflation.

During the Board of Trustees meeting, worker representatives argued that the percentage be rounded to 90%. The proposal, which would increase the distribution to approximately R$13.2 billion, was not approved. In the end, 89% received the support of the council.

FGTS recorded historic revenue in 2025

In 2025, the Guarantee Fund reached the highest collection in its history. The total went from R$192.5 billion in 2024 to R$212.56 billion the following year.

Withdrawals also grew and reached R$190.4 billion, an increase of 18.3% compared to the previous year. Withdrawals related to contract termination and termination fines accounted for 31.3% of the total, while birthday withdrawals represented 28.6%. Housing, retirement and other modalities completed the volume moved.

Throughout 2025, the FGTS also financed housing assistance for approximately 633 thousand families. In addition, resources were released for workers affected by public calamities in 662 municipalities.

The fund's assets reached R$837.7 billion, while net equity increased to R$126 billion. Total revenues rose from R$52.5 billion in 2024 to R$64.5 billion in 2025.

How does the distribution of results work?

The FGTS is mainly formed by deposits made monthly by employers into employee accounts. In most contracts governed by the CLT, the deposit is equivalent to 8% of the worker's remuneration and is not deducted from their salary.

Part of these resources is used to finance housing programs, basic sanitation, urban infrastructure and other operations. The income generated by these investments contributes to the fund’s financial result.

Since 2017, a portion of the annual profit has been shared among account holders. The amount distributed and the percentage used are defined by the FGTS Board of Trustees. The higher the worker's balance was on the reference date, the higher the installment received.
