PGR asks that Flávio Bolsonaro be heard for slander against Lula

The opinion was sent to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), rapporteur of the investigation.

Gonet cited criminal legislation and said that Flávio could retract his statements, a possibility that could exempt him from eventual conviction.

For the prosecutor, the investigation must return to the Federal Police for the hearing.

"The need for a hearing from Mr. Flávio Nantes Bolsonaro remains, a measure of special relevance, especially due to the possibility of retraction, capable of exempting the person being investigated from punishment", stated Gonet.

The case deals with the post made by Flávio on the social network X, on January 3 of this year, when the former president of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro was captured by the United States.

In the publication, the senator declared that "Lula will be reported. This is the end of the São Paulo Forum: international drug and weapons trafficking, money laundering, support for terrorists and dictatorships, rigged elections."

Last month, the PF closed the investigation that investigated the case and concluded that the senator committed slander against the president.

After the release of the final report of the investigation, Agência Brasil contacted Flávio Bolsonaro's advisors, but received no response. The space is open for manifestation.
