According to the hospital, the former Brazilian national team coach "is tracheostomized, lucid, collaborative and with stabilized kidney function and no longer requires dialysis."
Parreira is expected to be transferred to a semi-intensive unit, intended for patients with a stable condition who still require monitoring and specialized care. The hospital did not provide a discharge forecast.
Hospitalized since June 16, the former coach is treating lung inflammation. Parreira is accompanied by intensive care pulmonologist Arthur Vianna and the hospital's multidisciplinary team.
Parreira underwent a tracheostomy on July 7 and showed slight improvement last week, alternating moments of lucidity and induced coma.
In 2024, Parreira underwent chemotherapy to treat Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Commander of Brazil's campaign for the fourth World Cup in 1994, he participated via video in Carlo Ancelotti's presentation at the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) last year. From the United States, he welcomed the arrival of the Italian on recording.
