The operation was carried out on July 14, 2026 by a task force coordinated by MPT-RJ, with the participation of tax auditors from the Ministry of Labor and Employment and support from the Federal Police. Entry into the property occurred after judicial authorization.
The investigation began with a complaint that the woman had lived in conditions similar to slavery for more than 30 years. During the inspection, the agents listened to the worker and employers and found that the situation had lasted for more than five decades.
According to the MPT, she performed all the domestic tasks, took care of the employer's son when he was a child and, later, began to provide assistance to her own boss, who is facing health problems.
The employers claimed that the woman was treated “like part of the family”. The inspection, however, found that she never had a signed work card, did not have a health plan, did not complete her studies and remained without access to basic labor rights.
Following the rescue, an administrative hearing was held on July 15. The meeting was led by Labor Attorney Tathiane Menezes and Tax Auditor Raul Cappareli Vital and ended with the signing of a Conduct Adjustment Term.
Under the agreement, employers must pay R$500,000 in severance pay and compensation. An installment of R$60,000 was paid immediately. The remainder will be paid in 60 monthly installments of R$5,239.65.
The document also determines the collection of FGTS deposits for the period between October 2015 and the redemption date. The value will still be calculated.
The worker will also receive a lifetime pension equivalent to 75% of the current minimum wage. The benefit was estimated at approximately R$145 thousand based on a life expectancy of ten years.
The expected sum amounts to around R$645,000, but may increase if the woman lives beyond the period considered in the calculation. After leaving the residence, she was taken to a safe location, where she remains sheltered.
