Customers will be able to contract leasing in stores, online and in the Apple Store app. iPhones and Apple Watches will have 12 or 24 month contracts, while Macs and iPads can be "rented" for 24 or 36 months.
The cheapest iPhone plan costs $17.99 per month. Apple's old iPhone trade-in program started at around $42 a month and allowed you to replace the device after 12 payments.
THE IPHONES PRICE LIST
- iPhone 17e - starting at US$17.99/month (around R$92)- iPhone 17 - starting at US$22.99/month (around R$118)- iPhone Air - starting at US$28.99/month (around R$148)- iPhone 17 Pro - starting at US$31.99/month (around R$ 164)- iPhone 17 Pro Max - from US$34.99/month (around R$179)
Apple replaces the previous program, restricted to iPhones, with an option that includes more products. Cheaper models, such as the iPhone 16, MacBook Neo, basic iPad and Apple Watch SE, do not participate in the initiative.
At the end of the subscription, the contractor returns the device or keeps it, upon payment of an additional fee. Another option is to renew the lease is to get a new device.
PRICE RISES PRESSURE TO EXCHANGE DEVICES
Apple raised the prices of some Macs and iPads in June due to memory shortages. The demand for data centers contributes to the lack of these components.
American consumers have also been keeping cell phones longer. Users spend, on average, 22 months with the device in the USA, according to a Reviews.org survey released last year.
Analysts expect the next generation of iPhones to have higher prices. Mike Howard, vice president of consultancy TechInsights, said: "We should start thinking about a $1,500 iPhone rather than a $1,000 or $1,200 iPhone."
Program debuts before the expected launch of new iPhones in September. Apple is expected to present its first foldable iPhone, which could be the company's most expensive smartphone.
