(UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - Even after days without a response, São Paulo is trying this week to transfer Gonzalo Tapia to Major League Soccer.

The report found that São Paulo spent more than a week without a return from the Chilean's staff, who is leading negotiations with the Columbus Crew. As UOL revealed, the agreement is already in place between the clubs. The impasse remains in negotiations between the player and the American franchise.

The athlete's salaries are higher than the limit allowed to the Crew. Therefore, one of two things: either São Paulo would need to be willing to pay the 'surplus' salary or the attacker would have to give up this percentage.

The striker has received other inquiries on the market recently, but, to date, the Columbus Crew remains the only club to present an official proposal. Tapia prioritizes going to the United States, a scenario that maintains the club's optimism even after the period of silence in negotiations.

Tapia's departure is welcomed and this leads Tricolor not to 'throw in the towel' for the deal. Signed permanently at the beginning of the season in an operation with River Plate, the Chilean was unable to establish himself at Morumbis and lost space after the arrival of Dorival Júnior.

The internal assessment is that, in addition to opening up space on the salary bill, the Chilean's departure would make room for the return of Ryan Francisco - who has recovered from a serious knee ligament injury suffered last year.

As UOL showed, São Paulo even discussed a one-year loan at no cost and with no obligation to purchase. Later, however, he reevaluated the terms of the negotiation and began seeking greater financial compensation to release the attacker.
