According to City Hall, until around 9:40 am, the river level was around 3.30m. A new check carried out at 11:45 a.m. indicated that the level was at 6.33 meters. In other words, the river rose around three meters in practically two hours. At 3pm, Civil Defense pointed out that the level was already at 7.34m — exceeding the flood level of 7.20m in the location. ? "The forecast is for it to increase, because, in the cities above us, there was a lot of rain. The tendency is to increase even more. And we forecast more instability in the center of the state at 3 pm and strong instability at 10 pm", he reports. According to him, due to the heavy rain that occurred during the night of Monday (27), added to the forecast of another 80 millimeters of rain in the next few hours, there is a possibility of flooding in the lower part of the city. Another aggravating factor, points out Campos, is the amount of rain that occurred in the upper part, in the Sinimbu region, which can quickly raise the level of the Pardinho River. Therefore, the alert action for residents was carried out preventively. "We are preventively warning residents, even to lift their furniture, in order to avoid losses. We warned them earlier so that they could have it easier, because the level will rise", says Campos. The City Hall set up a shelter that, with the support of the Army, will receive those who need to leave their homes. There are around 200 to 300 residents there. "Whoever wants to go out and doesn't have a relative or another place to go, we are mobilizing a pavilion in partnership with the Army, which sets up the bars, and the Department of Social Development and Inclusion provides support with food, clothes and organizes the place", reports the municipal Civil Defense coordinator.
