Santos Municipal Public Servant Assistance Fund CAPEP-SAÚDE Disclosure The Municipal Public Servant Assistance Fund (Capep), which provides health care services to civil servants in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, had R$3.2 million diverted from its bank account. The suspicion is that the bank's system was invaded in a hacker attack. According to the city hall, the municipality has already managed to recover R$2.2 million of the amounts. The exact date of the attack, however, was not revealed. The case was registered with the Civil Police and forwarded to a police station specializing in cybercrimes, which is conducting the investigations.

In a statement, the municipal administration highlighted that it follows the investigations and acts "collaborating with the competent authorities and adopting all administrative and legal measures necessary to protect the municipality's assets and the public interest." The city hall also noted that, as this is an ongoing investigation, other information will be disclosed in due course, so as not to compromise the work of the responsible authorities.
