INTERNATIONAL 2 X 0 CORINTHIANS
Inter ended a winless streak that had lasted since May. With the result, the team from Rio Grande do Sul could lose on Thursday, at the Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo (8pm), by one goal to qualify.
"It's going to be a very tough game and we have to give 100%", said coach Paulo Pezzolano.
With more possession than Inter (60 to 40), but with little offensive effectiveness (the rival goalkeeper made a difficult save), Corinthians will have to hit the target to win by three goals. If they win by two goals, the decision will go to penalties.
"The first thing we have to do is believe," said Fernando Diniz, Corinthians coach, who will be without injured striker Yuri Alberto again.
PALMEIRAS 3 X 0 FORTALEZA
Without injured captain Gustavo Gómez, Palmeiras suffered pressure in marking and only really took off in the second half mainly due to a marking in the offensive midfield. With 3-0, the São Paulo club could lose by up to two goals to advance.
The return game will be on Wednesday, at 9:30 pm, at Arena Pantanal, in Cuiabá, and not in the capital of Ceará because Fortaleza sold its control of the field.
"They already knew they were coming here to lose by three," joked Abel Ferreira, Palmeiras coach. "If you ask me my opinion, I don't think they should let it [sell the command], but not for Palmeiras, not for Flamengo, not for Corinthians, not for São Paulo, for anyone, but I understand the financial part", added the coach.
Fortaleza, which had Paulo Autuori in charge for the first time, will need to win by four goals. If you win by three, the winner will go to the penalty shootout.
