Two suspects linked to the death of a live influencer are arrested in Mexico

Iván Martín "N" is identified as a possible co-author of the feminicide. He was arrested today by the Jalisco Prosecutor's Office, with support from the Army and the National Guard, according to the newspaper El Universal.

He would have participated before, during and after the attack. The Jalisco Prosecutor's Office did not detail, however, what role he had played in the crime.

The arrest occurred during an operation on a property in the San Juan de Ocotán neighborhood, in Zapopan. Two weapons, cell phones and documents were seized at the scene. The Prosecutor's Office did not say whether any of the weapons were used in the murder.

Ramón Ángel Álvarez Ayala, known as "R1", is suspected of participating in the crime. Appointed as the leader of a cell linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, he had been arrested on July 30 during an operation by Mexican Army special forces in Jalisco.

The link between "R1" and the femicide goes through his son, who remains at large. According to the investigation, the boy had a relationship with Valeria, had made threats against her and asked his father for the crime to be committed.

Mexican authorities are still searching for "R1's" son. Information about the relationship, the threats and the request made to the father were released by Mexico's Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, and reproduced by Milenio.

"R1" was initially arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of former mayor of Uruapan Carlos Manzo. He is identified as a possible intellectual author of the politician's death, which occurred in November 2025. The cases of Manzo and Valeria are investigated separately.

Those involved in Valeria's death would have used a motorcycle and a white car to carry out the crime and escape. Images from public and private cameras showed that the motorcycle's occupants received assistance from the car after the attack, according to local newspaper El Informador.

Valeria Márquez was murdered on May 13, 2025 inside the beauty salon she owned. The establishment, called Blossom The Beauty Lounge, was located in Zapopan, a municipality in the metropolitan region of Guadalajara.

The 23-year-old influencer was broadcasting live on TikTok when a man posing as a delivery man entered the establishment. The attacker asked for Valeria and attacked her after she confirmed his identity.

Municipal police officers were called to the hall and confirmed the death. The case began to be investigated by the Jalisco Prosecutor's Office under the feminicide protocol.

Initially, authorities said they found no link between the murder and criminal organizations. More than a year later, the investigation linked the crime to the cell commanded by "R1" and named his son as a suspect in requesting Valeria's death.
