SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - A truck was involved in three traffic incidents within a range of just over 20 kilometers on BR-222, in Umirim, Ceará. Two people died and one was injured.

According to the PRF (Federal Highway Police), the first accident occurred around 7:40 am on Monday (6), at km 68 of the highway. The head-on collision involved a Mercedes-Benz Atego 2426 truck and a Honda CG 125 Fan KS motorcycle.

The 35-year-old motorcycle passenger died at the scene. The 31-year-old driver was rescued with serious injuries, but died while being transported to a hospital.

According to preliminary surveys by the PRF, after the first collision, the truck continued along the highway and was again involved in two other incidents, at kilometers 86 and 88 of BR-222. One of them involved a GM Spin vehicle. In the other, there was a pileup between a VW Gol and a tractor truck coupled to a semi-trailer, leaving one person with minor injuries.

The truck driver was taken by a Military Police team to the Civil Police Station in the region. The PRF says that the circumstances of the accidents and the dynamics of the facts are still being investigated.
