More than 150 thousand customers remain without electricity in RJ on the second day after the storm

Light, responsible for supplying 31 cities - including the capital, reported that 112 thousand properties remain affected. In the capital, the neighborhoods with the greatest impact are Campo Grande, Bangu, Jacarepaguá, Santa Cruz and Recreio. In Baixada Fluminense, the municipalities with the most affected sections are Nova Iguaçu and Duque de Caxias, according to the concessionaire.

In the rest of the state, served by Enel, there are 34 thousand points without electricity. The city most impacted in this concession area is Paraty, with more than 14% of properties without the service.

At around 7pm this Thursday (30), Enel said that it had already normalized supply for 95% of customers. "In addition to restoring the electrical network, professionals also work to clear roads interrupted by falling trees and the company has reinforced vehicles, equipment and technicians to support the response to incidents related to falling branches and trees," he added.

Light claims that work has now entered the most complex stage. In a statement, the company said that, at several points, the damage required the replacement of poles, cables and other equipment, in addition to the removal of trees and objects that fell on the wiring.

IMPACTS AND CONSEQUENCES

A body was found this Thursday morning during the search for a man who disappeared at sea in Tarituba, in Paraty (RJ). The identification will be made by the IML (Legal Medical Institute) and the death has not yet been included in the rainfall balance, which has already recorded two deaths since yesterday due to the collapse of a wall in Santa Tereza, in the capital. One of the victims is Tássio Santos, 41, former Botafogo striker.

The capital of Rio de Janeiro was the one that suffered most from the winds. Nova Iguaçu and Niterói were the other two cities that recorded impacts. In total, there were 291 incidents related to winds across the state, including 154 tree cuts, 31 people rescued and five collapses.

Gusts recorded in the city were above 100 km/h. The highest measurement, 105.5 km/h, was made at Galeão Airport. There were also gusts of 95.4 km/h in Marambaia, 87.5 km/h in Vila Militar and 83.3 km/h in Campo dos Afonsos.

The mayor of Rio, Eduardo Cavaliere (PSD), declared that the wind was "absolutely stronger" than expected. "We ended up having a million people in the state with power outages, many streets impacted. The warning that was made [by the Civil Defense] in the early afternoon was much less intense than what ended up happening", he declared this morning in an interview with TV Globo.
