Fuel prices fell again across most of the country in July, consolidating the third consecutive month of decline for diesel and gasoline after the peak in April, at the start of tensions in the Middle East, reports the Edenred Ticket Log (IPTL) Price Index, calculated based on supplies at 21,000 accredited stations.

In the monthly comparison, ethanol led the declines, with a drop of 2.30% and a national average price of R$4.25.
Regular diesel and S-10 diesel also fell and closed July at R$6.83, a drop of 2.15%, and R$7.10, a drop of 1.66%, respectively.
Gasoline had a lighter drop, of 0.59%, and was sold, on average, at R$6.76 per liter, according to IPTL.
Edenred assesses that the impact of geopolitical tensions on oil prices is “not immediate” in Brazil and attributes the favorable scenario in the month to the increase in supply in the domestic market.
"We continue to closely monitor the dynamics of fuels and the impacts of the resumption of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. However, this impact is not immediate and takes time to reach the Brazilian consumer. For now, the month of July has consolidated a favorable scenario of decline, driven, in the domestic market, by the record supply of the sugar cane harvest and the increase in corn ethanol production, factors that reinforce the relief in drivers' pockets", said, in a note, the director of Business Units at Edenred Mobilidade, Vinicios Fernandes.
Regionally, the North maintained the highest average prices. Regular diesel ended the month with an average of R$7.57; the S-10 diesel, at R$7.56; gasoline, at R$7.26; and ethanol, at R$5.29.
The South recorded the lowest values for regular diesel, at R$6.24; the S-10 diesel, at R$6.57; and gasoline, at R$6.49. Ethanol was more advantageous in the Southeast, at R$4.12, and in the Central-West, at R$4.14.
Among the states, Roraima had the highest averages for all fuels, while São Paulo recorded the lowest price for ethanol, at R$3.93, and Rio Grande do Sul, the lowest averages for S-10 diesel, at R$6.36, and gasoline, at R$6.33, according to IPTL.
