Missing businessman was lured by friend into ambush in SP
The São Paulo Civil Police believe that businessman Marcelo Magalhães de Almeida, 31, was murdered after falling into a trap set by a friend. Missing since Thursday (16), he was allegedly taken alive to a forested area...
According to the investigation, Lucas Soares arranged a meeting with Marcelo at a property to which he had access. The two knew each other, and the businessman had been helping the suspect financially. The police are investigating whether the end of these transfers is related to crime.
Upon arriving at the agreed address, Marcelo was surprised by other men, immobilized and gagged. The suspects allegedly demanded that he unlock his cell phone and make transfers via Pix that totaled approximately R$8,000. The victim's phone and car were also taken.
Police say the businessman was placed in his own vehicle and transported to a forest near a stream. One of the prisoners reported that Marcelo arrived alive at the scene, where he was allegedly killed. Investigators are treating the case as a qualified homicide.
During the action, Marcelo would have asked the criminals to let him go after the robbery. For the Civil Police, however, death was not a decision made only during the attack. The suspicion is that the murder was already planned and that the money was withdrawn opportunistically.
The agents work with the hypothesis that the group followed the businessman's routine before the ambush. The motivation would be to prevent him from identifying and reporting those involved.
Three suspects were temporarily detained and were detained. The police are also investigating the involvement of another man. A fourth suspect mentioned during the first investigations died in a confrontation with military police, who seized weapons and drugs.
Marcelo's armored car was found abandoned on Rua das Andorinhas, in the Ariston neighborhood, close to the community where the phone emitted the last signal. Forensics collected possible traces of blood in the property where he was allegedly kept and are awaiting the results of the tests.
The search operation mobilized teams from the Civil and Military Police, Fire Department and Municipal Guard. Sniffer dogs, drones and the Águia helicopter were also used in the work carried out in the forest and near the stream.
