"I'm going to mind my own business," he wrote in a message sent to Folha. Earlier, he also told TV Globo that he does not intend to run for other positions, such as federal deputy.
Ibaneis left Palácio do Buriti in time for the non-compliance deadline to run for election in March, exactly one year after the announcement of the purchase of Banco Master by BRB (Banco de Brasília). The scandal has left him facing the biggest crisis since he was elected.
As Folha de S.Paulo showed, Master's case led to the isolation of Ibaneis and made the former DF governor lose any chance of PL support to run for the Senate in the Federal District.
The party of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), until then its ally, saw the disclosure of a million-dollar contract between the emedebista office and Reag, investigated in the context of fraud at the bank, the ideal moment to disembark from the base.
Ibaneis was elected in 2018 and re-elected four years later with support from Bolsonaro. For the 2026 election, his plan was to run for the Senate in an alliance with the PL, giving the second senatorial spot on his ticket to a Bolsonarist candidate.
