The United States Ambassador to Belgium, Bill White, organized a party last Sunday in the Cinquantenaire Park, in Brussels, to celebrate in advance US Independence Day, celebrated annually on July 4th.

The event generated controversy for several reasons, including the temporary privatization of a public green area during a heat wave. The celebration brought together around 5 thousand guests and was highlighted by the absence of Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa.
