Anvisa orders seizure of counterfeit lots of Mounjaro

According to Anvisa, the alert about the drug being counterfeited came from Eli Lilly, the pharmaceutical company that holds the Mounjaro registration, which identified units on the national market with characteristics that differ from the original factory standard. Estadão has not yet been able to contact the pharmaceutical company.

The batches affected by the regulatory decision are:

Mounjaro 10 mg: lot 855044

Mounjaro 15 mg: lots D880403, MJR 257 and D854901

According to the regulatory agency, fraud ranges from the use of batch numbers that are not recognized by the manufacturer to inconsistencies in traceability systems, such as a serial number that is incompatible with the batch reported.

In the case of lot D880403, the forgers made a mistake in the spelling of the graphic material. The batch had the English word "solution" instead of the correct spelling "solution", in addition to using an applicator device incompatible with the original injector pen.

Sanctions for natural weight loss products

Anvisa also imposed sanctions on a series of herbal medicines and supplements sold without registration, notification or registration with the regulatory agency. The products were manufactured by companies that operated without Operating Authorization (AFE).

The municipality ordered the prohibition of all batches of products under the brand PSM Pennaforte Produtos Naturais Ltda. Mother, from Fortaleza. The catalog of the barred company included items such as "Mounjaro Natumix" and "Ozempic Natural Natumix", as well as compounds such as Tribulus Terrestris with Maca, White Amora, Sucupira and Ora Pro Nóbis.

The agency also extended the bans to product lines from Bálsamos Jes Suplemento Natural Ltda. (including the items Calm Jes, Lipo Jes and Milagroso) and the stimulant Mega Viril Lótus Nutri, manufactured by Muwiz Indústria e Laboratório Ltda.

When contacted by Estadão, the manufacturers have not yet commented.
