São Paulo's strategy to not lose reinforcements after Ferraresi's impasse

EXCHANGE CONTINUES ON AGENDA

Negotiations have been ongoing for more than a month. At Tricolor, Rafinha and lawyer Felipe Ramos took over the football department on an interim basis and led negotiations with Leo Coelho, who heads the department at Botafogo.

Although the exchange between players remains the preferred model between clubs, the Tricolor board defined a strategy to guarantee the arrival of the midfielder even if there is no agreement for the defender to remain in Rio de Janeiro.

São Paulo and Botafogo maintain the active agreement that provides for the exchange between Newton and Ferraresi, revealed by UOL. The outcome of the operation, however, now depends on an understanding between the Rio club and the representatives of the Venezuelan defender.

Ferraresi is on loan to Botafogo until December and has a purchase option set at 6 million euros (R$35.2 million). If the parties reach an agreement until the end of the loan, the tendency is for the exchange initially designed to be completed.

PLAN B GUARANTEES NEWTON

If the agreement with Ferraresi's staff does not happen, São Paulo has already defined an alternative to not lose Newton.

In this scenario, Tricolor will complete the purchase of the midfielder from Botafogo, while Ferraresi will return to Morumbis at the end of the loan.

The negotiation values are not defined and will be adjusted from this Friday. Because of this, the parties are still not talking about a new closed definition.

The strategy was built to prevent the impasse involving Ferraresi from making Newton's arrival unfeasible, as requested by coach Dorival Júnior to reinforce the midfield as the season continues.

FERRARESI WILL CONTINUE TO BE OBSERVED

In addition to preserving Newton's signing, the format allows São Paulo to monitor Ferraresi for another six months before making a definitive decision on his future.

If Botafogo does not exercise the purchase option or does not reach an agreement with the player's staff, the defender will return to the São Paulo club at the beginning of 2027 and may be reinstated to the squad or negotiated at a new time.
