SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) - The artist João Signorelli, who was in soap operas such as "Caminho das Indias" and "Salve Jorge", died this Tuesday (21) at the age of 70. The information was confirmed by his advisor, who said that the actor was admitted last night to Hospital Sancta Maggiore, in São Paulo, due to kidney failure, and suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest during the early hours of the morning.

At the beginning of the year, Signorelli spent a period of time hospitalized at Hospital das Clínicas, in São Paulo, during which time he underwent surgery for an inguinal hernia.
Born in Cambuquira, Minas Gerais, in 1955, the artist worked in theater, television and cinema throughout his career. On stage, he participated in productions of plays such as "A Streetcar Named Desire" and "A Thousand and One Nights" and gained prominence by playing figures such as the Indian pacifist Mahatma Gandhi and the Brazilian medium Chico Xavier.
On TV, Signorelli participated in several Globo works written by Gloria Perez, such as "América", "Amazônia - De Galvez a Chico Mendes", "Caminho das Indias" and "Salve Jorge", and also stood out for giving life to Varetão in the soap opera "A Gata Comeu".
He also worked on networks such as Manchete, in the soap opera "Dona Beija", Band, with "Serras Azuis", and SBT, with "Chiquititas". In cinema, he was in films such as "Carandiru", "Garrincha - Estrela Solitário" and "Bruna Surfistinha". He is survived by his partner, actress Thaia Perez.
