SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - A 28-year-old military police officer died after falling ill while running on the treadmill at a battalion gym in Telêmaco Borba (PR) on Thursday.

Felipe dos Santos Bettio had a "sudden illness" while training, according to the Paraná Military Police. He was inside the academy of the city's 26th Battalion, which is 230 km from Curitiba.

The police officer was taken to an Emergency Unit by colleagues, but was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the PM, he did not react to resuscitation attempts.

Circumstances of death will be investigated, said the PM. In a statement, the 26th BPM said that Bettio was on duty at the time he died and that the investigations will be carried out by the competent bodies. Morning exercises were part of the police officer's work routine.

The soldier's body was buried yesterday morning in São Gabriel (RS). He was born in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The PM joined the corporation in 2022 and was allocated to the Dog Operations Group. He leaves his wife and two children.
