Clueless: Woman breastfeeds baby on a motorcycle without a license plate in Salinópolis, Pará A blatant act of recklessness in traffic caught the attention of pedestrians and drivers in Salinópolis, in the northeast of Pará. An image recorded on Avenida Dr. Miguel Santa Brígida, one of the main roads in the city's commercial area, shows a woman breastfeeding a baby on the back of a moving motorcycle. The scene captured exposes a sequence of irregularities that put the child's life at direct risk. The images were shown this Friday (24) on TV Liberal. There is no confirmation of the date of the incident. In addition to the extreme danger of transporting a baby in these conditions, none of the vehicle's occupants were wearing a safety helmet — equipment required by law. Furthermore, the motorcycle traveled the streets without an identification plate. The driver of the vehicle also ignored basic safety standards when driving while wearing sandals, a type of footwear that does not fit the feet and compromises control of the vehicle's pedals. What does the law say? According to the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), the conduct caught on the commercial avenue of Salinópolis accumulates several infractions of a very serious nature: Driving or transporting a passenger without a helmet: A very serious infraction; Driving a vehicle without an identification plate: Very serious infraction; Driving while wearing shoes that do not fit firmly on the feet (such as flip-flops or sandals that do not hold the heel): Traffic violation that compromises safety; Transporting children without observing established safety standards: A very serious infraction. If the driver is caught and fined by the competent authorities, each of the very serious infractions committed results in a fine of R$ 293.47, in addition to the loss of 7 points on the National Driving License (CNH) and the initiation of the process of suspending the right to drive. The report contacted the City of Salinópolis to request a position on traffic inspection in the region and the measures adopted following the incident, but received no response until the last update of this report.
