Maceió was the stage for one of the most inclusive moments in sport in Brazil. The capital of Alagoas hosted, for the first time, the Brazilian Futsal Down Cup, an event that brought together more than 120 athletes from 10 teams from different states in the country. The competition stood out for its technical level and the appreciation of accessibility and social transformation. The title of the 2026 edition went to the Corinthians Futsal Down team, which beat the Galápagos Jr. team by a score of 7 to 1. Promoted by Instituto Amor 21, in partnership with the Brazilian Confederation of Sports for Intellectual Disabilities (CBDI), this year the tournament gained an important ally in the fight for the rights and visibility of people with Down Syndrome: the Union of State Lawyers from Alagoas (Sindav/AL). The partnership with Sindav/AL reinforces the commitment of law in Alagoas to social causes and fundamental rights. For Elias Ferreira, president of the Lawyers' Union, supporting these initiatives is a practical way of combating prejudice and ensuring that accessibility and social inclusion leave paper and become reality in the population's daily lives. "Supporting the Brazilian Futsal Down Cup is an action to fulfill a profound social duty. Law deals daily with guaranteeing rights, and inclusion is one of the most fundamental pillars for a fairer society. Seeing these young athletes shine on the court shows us that true accessibility happens when we join forces to create real opportunities. Sport transforms lives and we are very proud to walk alongside Instituto Amor 21 on this journey", highlights the president. The competition took place for the first time outside the state of São Paulo and, in 2026, featured futsal down highlights, such as Renato Gregório, elected three times the best player in the world in the category and member of the Brazilian team, which won the third world championship in March 2024. President of Sindav/AL, Elias Ferreira, was present to support the Alagoas team during the event Ascom Sindav/AL The financial director of Sindav/AL, Flávio Farias, draws attention to the importance of providing resources and partnerships that promote social well-being and inclusion. "The institutional and financial support from Sindav/AL was one of the priorities for our board. The Down Futsal Cup brings direct benefits to society, generating a positive social impact, valuing the autonomy of people with Down Syndrome and proving that, with the right incentives, they can achieve great things. This event is proof that social responsibility is an active commitment of our union", says Flávio Farias.
