Death of employee provokes protest at water park in Paço do Lumiar An employee at the Valparaíso Water Park, in Paço do Lumiar, in the Metropolitan Region of São Luís, died this Tuesday (28), after five days in hospital, after suffering an electric shock during work, on July 23. Wendell Gabriel Oliveira de Jesus was admitted to Hospital da Ilha, in the capital of Maranhão, but he did not survive his serious health condition. The announcement of his death was made by Valparaíso himself, in the early evening of this Tuesday, in a note published on social media. On Tuesday morning, hours before Wendell's death, his family, friends and co-workers held a protest at the park entrance, which did not work. The protesters demanded clarification about the accident and asked for the employee to be transferred to a private hospital. In a statement, Valparaíso Adventure Park lamented the death of Wendell Gabriel and stated that it will collaborate with the investigation of the circumstances of the accident. Wendell, who worked as a pool keeper, was in a dry area of ??the park, outside the pools, when he suffered an electrical shock while moving an extension cord from one point to another. Also according to the park, employees who were nearby noticed what had happened, immediately turned off the power and called the internal first aid team. Wendell was treated at the scene and taken to the Maiobão UPA, a unit chosen because it was the fastest service option at that time, due to the congestion on the MA-201, towards Valparaíso–Araçagy. The park stated that, during the displacement, rescuers maintained cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers. At the UPA, the employee received medical care and underwent intubation. In the early hours of the 24th, after medical regulation, he was transferred to Hospital da Ilha, where he remained hospitalized in serious condition. Valparaíso reported that it monitored the evolution of the clinical picture with family members and the medical team, in addition to offering financial, labor support and assistance to the family. The company also announced that it registered the Work Accident Report (CAT) with the INSS. On Monday (27), doctors and social workers informed family members and park representatives that Wendell remained in serious condition.
