Audios show a family's call for help after houses were destroyed by a tornado "Come inside, it's a tornado": it was with this scream that resident Diele Amaral tried to alert her husband moments before the house where they lived collapsed in Giruá, in the northwest of Rio Grande do Sul. The residence was one of three destroyed by the phenomenon on Tuesday (28). This Wednesday (29), the victim returned to what was left of the property in the town of Rincão dos Ribeiro. In an interview with RBS TV, she detailed the moments before the collapse. ? Access the g1 RS channel on WhatsApp "I opened the window and shouted to my husband, who was on the phone. And rubble fell on top and I couldn't get out", reported Diele. After the structure fell, her husband, Gilço, had to ask neighbors for help via audio messages. Recordings show the resident's despair as he tried to remove his wife and other family members from the rubble. "Guys, help! Everything in the house here collapsed, there was a tornado! Someone who has the strength here, come and help get Diele out of here, the grandmother is missing! And the father is injured!", said Gilço in the audios. The other houses belonged to Diele's mother-in-law and great-grandmother. The resident's father, Neide Amaral, reported that it took the elderly woman around two hours to be removed from the rubble by neighbors and relatives. "People came together to get [them] out from under the surroundings", reports Neide. "Total despair. Total despair", he says. The three were taken to hospitals in the municipalities of Santo Ângelo and Giruá. Diele has already been discharged from hospital, but the other two were still being treated this Wednesday morning (29). The phenomenon, confirmed by Civil Defense, left four residents injured in the city and killed animals. The tornado also caused damage in the cities of Sete de Setembro and Senador Salgado Filho.
