According to military police officers from the 14th Community Interactive Company (Cicom), three men invaded the property and attacked the victim. Waldenberg's wife was in bed at the time of the invasion and, according to preliminary reports, was holding her husband's hand when the attack began. There are disagreements about how the crime was committed. One of the versions points out that the victim was beaten to death, while another points out that he was also shot in the head.
