Men are arrested for theft of copper cables from a manhole, in São José dos Campos Five men were arrested in the act, in the early hours of this Tuesday (28), suspected of stealing copper cables from an underground gallery in the Jardim Colonial neighborhood, in the South Zone of São José dos Campos. The group was found inside a manhole with the wiring already removed from the network, as well as several tools used in the crime. According to the incident report, teams from the Municipal Civil Guard were patrolling when they received an anonymous tip reporting that men were stealing cables on Rua Monte Verde. ? However, after receiving new information from the monitoring center, the agents returned to the scene and located the suspects inside the underground gallery. According to the Civil Police, the guards found around 37 segments of copper cables already removed from the network, in addition to seven tools, including saws, pliers, wrenches and a hook, used to cut and remove the wiring. Still according to the police record, the suspects informally told the agents that they had been hired to remove the wiring and informed that the copper would be taken to a warehouse in Caçapava, where it would be sold. During the incident, GCM also found a car parked nearby. Initially, everyone denied any connection with the vehicle, but, at the police station, a key compatible with the car was found with one of the prisoners, reinforcing the suspicion that the vehicle would be used to support the crime. The five suspects were taken to the Judiciary Police Center, where they were charged with the aggravated theft of wires and cables while resting at night and were arrested in the act.
