According to information gathered, Wilton arrived at the scene on a motorcycle and parked next to the vehicle. During a reversing maneuver, the motor grader operator did not notice his colleague's presence, hit the motorcycle and ran over the server. A team from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called, but Wilton succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. The body was sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) of Arapiraca.
