Those investigated used fake profiles on social media to advertise the sale of airline tickets, high-value animals and products from large retail stores. The names of the suspects were not released and, therefore, g1 was unable to locate their defense. With the breach of banking, messaging and email secrecy, the police discovered that, after the victims paid for the fake products, the money was distributed across several bank accounts to make tracking difficult. According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the investigation into Operation "Falsum Imperium" began after anonymous complaints about the standard of living of one of the suspects, which was incompatible with the declared income.
