The 36-year-old victim was shot by a plainclothes police officer, who was there as a customer and reacted to what he believed to be a real robbery. In fact, it would later be discovered, it was all just a joke between friends.
Another man, aged 21, was also shot. The names of those involved were not disclosed.
The two were on a motorcycle and simulated the crime because they knew the employees of the establishment, linked to a car wash that provided services to the store.
The boy riding pillion announced the robbery by shouting and pretended to carry a gun, putting his hand under his shirt. It was enough for the police officer to shoot the pair.
Security camera footage recorded the motorcycle's approach and the agent's immediate reaction. The videos also show the moment he realizes the mistake, seconds after the shots, when he hears from the dealership owner that the two boys were acquaintances at the house.
The men were helped by the police officer himself, who provided first care until the arrival of Samu and accompanied them to the Vila Alpina State Hospital.
The case was registered at the 42nd DP (Parque São Lucas), where the police officer gave a statement and stated that he did not know, at the time of the reaction, that it was a joke. He claimed to have acted in self-defense and was released.
The owner of the dealership and an employee also testified and confirmed that they knew the victims.
