Presbyterian Church decides that believers should not participate in the 'Legendaries' movement The humanitarian movement Legendários stated, this Wednesday (29), that it receives with "serenity and respect" the decision of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil (IPB). The denomination recommended that its members, deacons, elders and pastors not participate in or support the group and other organizations with similar characteristics. The recommendation was approved on Tuesday (28), during the Supreme Council, the denomination's general assembly held in Manaus. The measure is part of a resolution on church doctrine and practice. In a note released after the deliberation, the movement clarified that the decision does not establish any prohibition on the participation of Presbyterians in Legendários. ? "The humanitarian movement receives this publication with serenity and respect, confident that it will contribute to clarifying the issue", informed the organization. The Legendaries also stated that they remain committed to the purpose of strengthening families, developing leadership and promoting actions that generate a positive impact on communities. The recommendation approved by the Supreme Council classifies the Legendaries' practices as incompatible with historical tradition and reformed doctrine. According to the document, the movement adopts methodologies considered "pragmatic, neo-Pentecostal and experiential", which contradict the principles of the Holy Scriptures and the organization of the church. The guidance was motivated by a consultation presented by members of the denomination in Tocantins, who asked for an official position on the expansion of the movement in Presbyterian communities.
