Pointer Helena Wenk, from Sesc-Flamengo and the Brazilian women's volleyball team, denounced racism against her boyfriend on social media. The 21-year-old player said she had to deactivate comments on her Instagram posts after racist attacks directed at Lucas Barbosa, a basketball player with experience in Tijuca and Botafogo, with whom she has been in a relationship since May 2025.

Helena stated that the comments were made by profiles that spread discrimination and that she had to delete, block and report this content. "Every day, he and I receive notifications from people like that on my profile!! We delete, block, report, we do everything in our power, but it continues... They are such cowardly people who create profiles just for that, because every time we log in (they) have 255 followers", the player said on Instagram.

"I see a lot of comments about: "Wow, how ugly", "Wow, what bad taste", "You're with her just out of interest". And everyone knows that it's not about beauty, it's about skin color!!! And, if it's about finding her beautiful or not, why come and comment on that??? I'm trying to be more active on social media, but how am I going to continue if every time I post something, regardless of whether it appears in the post or not, these comments appear??", added the athlete.

"I deactivated the comments on my Instagram on all posts, to see if at least we don't have to see these things, to stop this. Unfortunately, we have no control over these human trash who are on social media just to exude hate. I tried to tag these profiles, but they don't allow them to be mentioned. So, whoever can go to their profile to report and take down the account, I would appreciate it, because just me and Lucas doing this won't do any good", concluded Helena.

On his official profile, Lucas, 26, received support from friends and followers and shared demonstrations against the attacks he has been receiving. "We, black people, must not accept this type of prejudice. We must not remain silent. Racism will have no place", published a colleague.
