Palmeiras plans to receive R$60 million with defenders out of plans
SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - Palmeiras projects to receive more than R$60 million from negotiations for two defenders who are not in coach Abel Ferreira's plans: Micael and Naves. The report found that the Palmeiras...
The report found that the Palmeiras management has a signal that Inter Miami, Lionel Messi's team, will acquire the defender permanently - the athlete is on loan with a purchase option worth around R$35 million.
Micael cost Palmeiras the same R$35 million last year, but only played 28 games for the club. The defender was unable to please the fans with the opportunities he received and returned to MLS - before arriving at Alviverde, he was at Houston Dynamo.
The 25-year-old defender is Inter Miami's starter and has been pleasing. Micael has played 16 of the team's 17 games this season so far and scored a goal - which he was unable to do at Palmeiras.
Another defender who will make money for Palmeiras is Kaiky Naves. The 24-year-old player suffers from the high competition in the squad: Abel Ferreira has Gustavo Gómez, Murilo, Barboza and Bruno Fuchs at his disposal (in addition to Benedetti and Koné, who are part of the support group from the base to the professional).
Palmeiras wants to negotiate the athlete for a deal between 4 and 5 million euros (R$ 23 and 29 million at the current price). Naves played last season for Alverca, in Portugal, and was an absolute starter for the team: 34 games played in the season, all of them as a starter, in addition to scoring three goals. Alverca finished the Portuguese Championship in 11th place with 39 points and was not at risk of relegation.
Another possibility is for Naves to be involved in negotiations to sign Botafogo midfielder Danilo, but this scenario is considered less likely at this time.
The defenders' negotiations help to reach the projection of R$400 million in sales for this year. Palmeiras' main sales so far have been Aníbal Moreno to River Plate (R$38 million) and Facundo Torres to Austin FC (R$52 million).
