Matheus Nascimento - also making his debut for Grêmio - scored his penalty to make it 3-1.
With the victory, Grêmio overcomes the defeat to Chapecoense in the other friendly they played, while Cruzeiro lost the chance to come out of the break undefeated after the victory against Defensor-URU.
In the final stretch of the interseason, Cruzeiro and Grêmio are now focusing on the return of the Brasileirão, which will return in the 19th round. Grêmio plays on Friday (17th), against Mirassol, while Cruzeiro only returns to the field on the 22nd, against Internacional.
