Fortaleza sells command, and Palmeiras escapes the pitch criticized by Abel
SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - Fortaleza sold control of the field for the return game of the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil against Palmeiras, and coach Abel Ferreira's team will not need to play at Arena...
The Leão do Pici board asked the CBF to change the venue for the return game, on August 5th, to Arena Pantanal, in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso. The match will be played at 9:30 pm.
The sale of the command will yield Fortaleza around R$2.2 million. The team has a debt of R$300 million and is competing in Series B in the current season. The initial information was published by Diário do Nordeste and confirmed by UOL.
The first leg will be played on August 2nd (Sunday), at 4pm (Brasília time), at Nubank Parque.
ABEL HAS ALREADY MADE PUBLIC CRITICISM OF GRAMADO DO CASTELÃO
At the beginning of last year, when the controversy between synthetic and natural pitches was more acute, coach Abel Ferreira spoke for seven minutes at a press conference on the topic and mentioned the Castelão pitch, where Fortaleza plays its games.
What happens in the synthetic is that, in terms of articulation, the player suffers more, but it is uniform and without holes. Nobody is going to take me wrong, but when we go to Castelão, I just ask my players not to twist their feet.
Palmeiras visited Fortaleza at Castelão two months later and left the stadium with two absences, attributed by the club to the conditions of the pitch. At the time, Alviverde complained about the high, dry field and the irregularities in the floor.
Defender Micael suffered a sprain in his left ankle, and Vitor Roque also felt pain in his ankle after the match.
With the change in the location of the match, this is no longer a problem for Palmeiras, who saw Piquerez and Vitor Roque undergo ankle surgery this season.
