SÃO PAULO, SP (UOL/FOLHAPRESS) - Two points bothered Abel Ferreira in Palmeiras' 2-1 defeat to Atlético-MG, this Sunday (26), at Nubank Parque, in the 20th round of the Brasileirão.

The intersections were the main point of Abel's discomfort. The coach said he doesn't like ending games with so few balls thrown into the opponent's area.

"He [Emiliano Martínez] was sacrificed depending on the result. I wanted a left-footed player there, Piquerez to cross, see how our goal came out. I don't like having as few crosses as we had today. We managed to push our opponent a lot until the penalty spot, but we didn't shoot from distance and we didn't have clean and clear chances", said Abel, at a press conference.

Palmeiras ended the game with just eight successful crosses - 33 attempted. In one of them, Felipe Anderson received the ball inside the area and finished to score the goal to tie 1-1. Igor Gomes would score the second for the visitors and define the victory by 2-1.

Another point that bothered Abel was the lack of long shots. The coach highlighted Palmeiras' offensive volume, but felt a lack of long-distance shots, as Atlético-MG closed the area well.

"We need to do the most important thing: the goal. We played a good game until the edge of the opponent's area. We dominated, we controlled, but we have to cross more, shoot more. We need to be more forceful in the final third of the field. It was a positive game on our part, but the result was theirs, they were more effective. They defended a lot and with a lot", declared coach Abel Ferreira.

Palmeiras took 22 shots in the game. Of these, only eight were from outside the area.

ABEL REGRETS MISTAKES

The Palmeiras coach regretted the mistakes that caused the Palmeiras defeat. In the first goal, Carlos Miguel released the ball when trying to fit it in and saw Victor Hugo score. In the second, Galo launched a quick counterattack, and Minda served Igor Gomes.

"They were lucky and we were unlucky. It happens to the best in the world. Our goalkeeper [Carlos Miguel] has the conditions to be one of the best Brazilian goalkeepers. It's part of it, he knows that. He was the first to take over and he has already helped us a lot. When we make a mistake, we have to take responsibility. There were two goals that we felt sorry for. There was a lack of recovery [in the second goal]. The ball fell to our opponent, we had enough players behind the line to recover, we have the advantage of the duel, but we were unable to be effective. Football That's it," said the commander.

The result was bad for Palmeiras. The team remained with 44 points and did not take advantage of Flamengo's stumble, which only drew 1-1 with São Paulo, at Maracanã, and was 38th. The advantage would be greater in case of victory.

Palmeiras returns to the field next Wednesday. At 9:30 pm (Brasília time), the team visits Vitória, in a game valid for the 21st round of the Brasileirão.
