Durigan calls Milei a 'clown' after the Argentine's insults; 'indicators there are worse', he says

The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, classified this Monday, 27th, the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, as a “clown”, when commenting on the statements made by the head of state of the neighboring country against the Brazilian government. Durigan gave an interview to Rádio Jornal, from Pernambuco, this morning.

During a Liberal Party convention, held in São Paulo on Saturday, 25th, Milei called Lula a “prisoner” and minister Alexandre de Moraes “bald trash”. The Argentine president also stated that he trusted Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) to “manage to stop the socialist scum”.

After the attacks, the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) summoned the Brazilian ambassador to Argentina, Júlio Bitelli, for consultations.

“The clown president of Argentina spoke about Brazil when Argentina's country risk is much higher, public debt is much higher and inflation is much higher,” declared Durigan.

The minister also highlighted positive indicators of the Brazilian economy. “Brazil has minimal unemployment, minimal inflation, a record trade balance and a record harvest,” he stated. Durigan added that Brazil's country risk is at an all-time low.

There is still no deadline for the Brazilian ambassador's return to Argentina. The diplomat's summons to meetings in Brasília is considered a gesture of strong discontent in relations between the two countries.
