The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) reinforced that Smartmatic, a company mentioned by senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) as a supplier of electronic voting machines for the Brazilian elections, never sold devices of this type to the country. The Court has not yet commented on the criticisms made by Flávio to the polls on Tuesday, 21, in a meeting with ambassadors revealed by Broadcast Político.

When asked about the case, the TSE sent a 2020 article that denies the use of Smartmatic devices in Brazilian elections. "On several occasions, the TSE reiterated that the company Smartmatic did not supply or provide electronic voting machines for the Brazilian elections, nor did it work on the programming of these devices. The company only acted in the training of professionals who provided technical and operational support for the Brazilian voting machines", says the text.

Flávio's meeting with ambassadors took place last Tuesday, 21st, in Brasília. In his speech, he cited suspicions of fraud in ballot boxes manufactured by Smartmatic, of Venezuelan origin, and replicated misinformation already denied on several occasions by the TSE. "Many of these machines that are used in Brazilian elections have the same origin as this Venezuelan company," said the senator.

"I'm not questioning the Brazilian election system, but that all countries can send as many observers as possible to our election and people who have knowledge about this technology," he said.

Representatives from embassies in Brazil from the United States, China, Israel, Germany and the United Kingdom - as well as 35 other countries - were present at the event.

Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Flávio's father, has already been sentenced to ineligibility by the TSE for using the public machine to disseminate false information about electronic voting machines in a meeting with ambassadors in 2022.
